Introduction

The N95 mask is one of nine types of particulate protection masks certified by NIOSH. "N" means not resistant to oil. "95" means that when exposed to a specified number of special test particles, the particle concentration in the mask is lower for more than 95% than the particle concentration outside the mask. The 95% value is not the average but the minimum value. N95 is not a specific product name, as long as it meets the N95 standard, and the product can pass NIOSH's review, it can be called "N95 mask." The protection grade of N95 means that under the test conditions specified in the NIOSH standard, the filtering efficiency of the mask reaches 95% to non-oily particulate materials (such as dust, acid mist, paint mist, microorganisms, etc.).

Function and use

The filtering efficiency of the N95 mask for particles with an aerodynamic diameter of 0.075µm ± 0.02µm is above 95%. The aerodynamic diameter of airborne bacteria and fungal spores mainly varies between 0.7-10µm, which is also within the protection range of N95 masks. Therefore, the N95 mask can be used for the respiratory protection of certain particles, such as the dust generated by grinding, cleaning and processing of minerals, flour and certain other materials. As well as for liquid or non-oily particulate matter that does not produce harmful volatile gases as a result of spraying. Can effectively filter and purify the inhaled abnormal odors (except toxic gases), help reduce the exposure level of certain respirable microbial particulates (such as mold, anthrax, tuberculosis, etc.), but it cannot eliminate contact infection, illness or death risks.

Suitability

In addition to the filtering efficiency of the mask, the tightness between the mask and the face is one of the important factors that determine the effectiveness of the mask. Different types of masks have a big difference from the suitability of the human face. Therefore, before using the mask, the suitability of the mask should be checked first. After the wearer's face tightness test, ensure that the air can enter and exit through the mask when it is close to the edge of the face.

Precautions

Wash your hands before wearing masks, or avoid touching the inside of the mask with your hands during wearing to reduce the possibility of mask contamination. Distinguish the inside, outside, top and bottom of the mask clearly.

Do not squeeze the mask with your hands, the N95 mask can only isolate the virus on the surface of the mask, if you squeeze the mask with your hands, the virus will wet the mask with droplets, which can easily cause virus infection.

Try to keep the mask close to the face. The simple test method is to exhale hard after putting on the mask so that no air can escape from the edge of the mask.

The protective mask must be close to the user's face, the user must shave their whiskers to ensure that the mask fits snugly on the face. Whiskers and anything padded between the mask gasket and the face can cause the mask to leak.

After adjusting the position of the mask to your face, apply the index fingers of both hands and press the nose clip along the upper edge of the mask so that it fits snugly against your face.
